Thanks for visiting the Reindahl Community Garden website. Reindahl is located on the east side of Madison in Reindahl Park off Portage Rd. We have 260 garden plots that are rented to interested gardeners in the Madison area. Each garden plot is 20’x20′. We have 140 plots that are tilled each year so the gardeners can plant directly into the ground when the soil is ready. The remaining 120 plots are not tilled so gardeners in these plots can plant perennials to return each year.
The Reindahl Community Gardens are run by the gardening community. That’s right, we are all volunteers! Each gardener is required to provide service to the garden to keep it in tip top shape. Each month a workday is held to clean the gardens as a group. Task forces are another way gardeners can offer their services, folks work as a team to provide newsletters, host educational events and keep this website running. There are many ways to provide a service to the garden, most of all, it helps you meet the rest of the gardeners.
Are you interested in gardening with us at Reindahl Community Gardens? New gardeners can apply for a plot at the spring registration day. We allow the previous year’s gardeners the opportunity to apply for their same garden. Previous year’s gardeners have until the spring registration day to reserve their old plot. Any plots that are not reserved by the spring registration day will be rented out on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to be added to our waiting list and to receive information on upcoming garden meetings, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
